While Barkeria, Brassavola, Broughtonia, Cattleya, Caularthron, Encyclia, Epidendrum, Guarianthe, Laelia, Leptotes, Myrmecophylla, Prosthechea, Psychilis, and Rhyncholaelia, are regularly known within the alliance due to more popularized hybrids betrween these genera, the genera listed above are all closely related and within the genera. I would imagine that with time, some brave hybridizers will try crossing the rest of these. If they can't be made, then I would guess that they will eventually be removed from the alliance.
All of the Cattleya Alliance genera are native anywhere from southern North America, Mexico, Central America, mid to northern South America, and the Caribbean islands depending on the genus and species. Plants grow in a wide va riety of climates and it is best to know the genus, if not even the species to know how to grow them.
